LENA NING ZHANG, AIA, LEED AP
Lena Zhang is the founder and principal of Z Studio Architects. Her 28 years of domestic and international design experience has been focused on innovative architecture. Lena’s passion for creating unique visions for her clients has helped their projects win numerous domestic and international design awards. Her consistent approach of effective communication with clients, contractors and the design team has been the foundation of the success of her designs. Lena’s strengths in formulating ideas and delivering quality design products are further enhanced by her hands-on skills in the design execution process. She holds the professional degree of Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) From New York State University, Buffalo, and a B.S. in Building Structural Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai. Her combined knowledge in both fields has bolstered her efforts on many challenging projects.
Lena is an active member in the academic and professional arena. She has been a guest critic for architectural design studios at Stanford University and UC Berkeley. She has also been a speaker at the GSD Asia Conference, Harvard University; the Haas Business School Lecture Series, UC Berkeley; the International Medical Facility Design Symposium, Beijing, China; the MIPIM Conference, Singapore; and the International Design Conference, Tongji University, Shanghai, and Tsinghua University Beijing, China. Her publications include: “Place Making”, and “Some Thoughts about Civic Architecture”, Time and Architecture, Shanghai, China.
